The Government Defence Integrity Index (GDI) measures institutional resilience to corruption in the defence sector by focusing on both policymaking and public sector governance in national defence establishments. It is the first global analysis of institutional and informal controls to manage the risk of corruption in defence and security institutions. It measures resilience in five broad risk areas of defence: policymaking, finances, personnel management, operations, and procurement.

This Annual Plan is the second under our 2021-2030 Strategy, ‘Stopping Corruption – Promoting Integrity’.

This year, we will deepen our programme of work across the public sector, political sphere and private sectors of the UK. In parallel, we will continue to lead influential global programming for the wider Transparency International movement focused on corruption prevention in Global Health, Defence & Security and in supporting partners to drive anti-corruption standards in other countries.

Ensuring integirty in local planning across London: A 10-point plan for...

Publication

In July 2020, Transparency International UK (TI-UK) published a research report on corruption risks in local government planning decisions.1 The research for this report included a standardised assessment of corruption risks across 50 different local authorities in England with a responsibility for housing planning decisions. This assessment looked at how local authorities compared against good practice standards for managing corruption risks. Our research found that, overall, local authorities do not meet good practice standards for ensuring propriety in the planning process.
